Acquisitions Programs
Chinese program has acquired publications through a network of Chinese clan association, local publishers, bookshops, and regional acquisition trips.
The Chinese specialist attends book launchings, book exhibitions and award presentations by the Chinese organizations. Beside the routine in town trips, the Chinese specialist visits Malaysia Philippines, Singapore and Thailand to acquire Chinese publications.
For years, Library of Congress Jakarta has successfully acquired Chinese publications from ASEAN countries, especially from Indonesia, East and West Malaysia, and Singapore. Starting FY 2014, the method of new titles selection for Malaysia and Singapore program participants has been changed from Country Profile selection to circulars. Circulars of new titles are prepared for participating institutions to alert them and provide them latitude to choose suitable titles for their library users. These circulars monographs, non-book (sound recording, maps, video, and CD-ROM), new serials, and others.
If you want to subscribe to the serial, please kindly let us know. As Chinese overseas study becomes more important we welcome additional participants to our Chinese program.
The staff welcome new participants and visits from scholars.
